The Milwaukee Brewers are hoping to repeat the high level of team success they enjoyed in 2024 when they won the National League Central Division for the second year in a row. Of course, that is a tall task given the fact that Willy Adames, who signed as a free agent with the San Francisco Giants, and Devin Williams, who was traded to the New York Yankees, are both gone.
That being said, very few gave Milwaukee much of a chance to be competitive last year following the departures of Corbin Burnes and Craig Counsell. Despite these doubts, the Brewers won 93 games behind the leadership of 2024 NL Manager of the Year Pat Murphy and thanks to the contributions of many young players.
One of these young players, outfielder Jackson Chourio, finished third in NL Rookie of the Year voting after signing an eight-year $82 million contract before even playing in a Major League game. His 2024 season proved why Milwaukee was wise to lock him up long-term (his deal has club options for a ninth and tenth season) as he made some significant league history.
Milwaukee Brewers Outfielder Jackson Chourio Could Eventually Be the Brightest Star in Baseball

By signing Chourio to such a long extension before he even made his Major League debut, the Brewers were showing tremendous faith in their young prospect. He rewarded them with one of the best rookie campaigns in franchise history, and the absolute best by a player who is just 20 years old.
Despite a slow start to the year, Chourio rebounded to hit .275/.327/.464 with 21 home runs, 79 RBI, and 22 stolen bases. Not only did he accomplish a 20-20 season as a rookie, but he also became the youngest player in Major League history to reach that milestone.
But as impressive as his rookie campaign was, Milwaukee will need Chourio to be even better in 2025 to make up for the loss of Adames on offense. It seems like the young outfielder knows this, and he apparently has his sights set on another accomplishment that would help immensely.
Milwaukee Brewers Outfielder Jackson Chourio Appears to Be Aiming for a 30-30 Season

In a recent interview with Brewers insider Adam McCalvy and other reporters covering Spring Training, Chourio hinted that he has a pretty significant goal for the 2025 season:
“’I have some goals,’ he said. ‘I’m not going to say. It’s too early right now. But I have some [goals] I’m working hard to get to. I have some stats that I want to chase, but it’s too early to say.’
“Does that mean he will identify them eventually?
“’I’m going to be quiet for the entire season,’ he said.
“As he answered, Chourio cracked a smile. When a reporter mentioned 30-30, that smile grew.”
As one can see, it appears that Chourio is going to attempt a 30-30 season, or a year in which he hits 30 home runs and steals 30 bases.
If he is able to accomplish that, and if other Brewers hitters pick up where they left off in 2024, Milwaukee’s offense should be just fine.
