J.B. Bukauskas’ stint with the Milwaukee Brewers just could not take off yet as he is again sidelined by they same injury that kept him out for most of the 2024 season.

The team confirmed that the right hand pitcher will be out for the rest of the season to undergo a lat injury surgery.

The 28-year-old came to Wisconsin in 2023 after Milwaukee claimed him off of waivers after his stint with the Seattle Mariners. He has pitched for the Brewers in just 11 games so far.

He reportedly re-injured his lat during a throwing session last week.

It is regretful for Bukauskas to be sidelined again as things were already looking great for him.

He was designated by the team for assignment in the middle of January to open a roster spot but was calld up again and then sent to Class AAA Nashville right away.

Milwaukee Brewers infielder Vinny Capra runs the bases during spring training workouts Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at American Family Fields of Phoenix in Phoenix, Arizona.

While some felt frustrated by the news, the player himself is in good spirit. In fact, he feels excited about his recovery period.

“It sounds weird but I’m excited,” he said.

“I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and finally get it fixed.”

    Milwaukee Brewers growing injury list

Star Christian Yelich is yet to join the team while Brandon Woodruff might not be ready for the opening day next month. Gold Glove finalist Blake Perkins is also out after suffering a fractured leg during spring training.

Bukauskas is not the only name joining the Brewers’ injured list.

The latest setback manager Pat Murphy is working to address is the absence of infield prospect Tyler Black.

The manager thinks his injury might not be that bad.

“We’ve got a lot of time. We leave in a month, you know?” he said, suggesting that it is a long season and Black will still get his spot once he returns.
