On paper, the Milwaukee Brewers appear to have solid starting pitching depth. However, last season they tied a franchise record with 17 different players making starts. That being said, exploring additional mound options is something teams are always pursing and most recently the Brew Crew was linked to a pitcher who had a 2.69 ERA in the KBO last year.
Who are the current starting pitching options for the Milwaukee Brewers?
As it stands, the Brewers’ pitching staff includes Freddy Peralta, Nestor Cortes, Brandon Woodruff, Tobias Myers, Aaron Civale, DL Hall, and Aaron Ashby as potential rotation options. Additional considerations include 40-man roster prospects Logan Henderson and Chad Patrick. Furthermore, Robert Gasser could become available after the All-Star break, a potential reunion with Wade Miley has been discussed, and top pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski is expected to make his MLB debut at some point next season.
The Milwaukee Brewers have been linked to a pitcher who excelled in the KBO last year
Earlier this off-season, 32 year old LHP Kyle Hart generated significant MLB interest with a rumor of at least 16 teams expressing interest. Recently, Will Sammon at The Athletic revealed some of those teams in which the Brewers were one of a handful that he mentioned.
Kyle Hart believes he is a middle-of-the-rotation type of pitcher
After a standout 2024 KBO season that included 26 starts, 157 innings pitched, a 2.69 ERA, a 28.8% strikeout rate, and a 6% walk rate, Kyle Hart expressed to local Massachusetts media his disappointment over his lone MLB stint in 2020. Despite that setback, he remains confident in his ability to be a consistent and high-performing presence in a major league rotation, believing deep down that he can thrive at the highest level of baseball in the United States.
It seems likely that one team will take a flier on the soft tossing southpaw, but his chance to sign may not come until other players come off the board first as Roki Sasaki, Jack Flaherty, and Nick Pivetta are all still available.
