The Milwaukee Brewers have made a few moves over the last 6 weeks in order to acquire pitching. A low risk trade for Dallas Keuchel didn’t pan out, a deal with the Tampa Bay Rays netted them Aaron Civale, and most recently they acquired reliever Nick Means from the Colorado Rockies. Despite this they are not done, are seeking pitchers that can provide length, and reportedly have checked in on one Chicago White Sox starting pitcher.
Per reports the Milwaukee Brewers have checked in on one Chicago White Sox starting pitcher.
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported that the Brewers have called the White Sox regarding Erick Fedde. It is unclear how big/serious of a discussion they had, but Rosenthal and Joel Sherman also indicated that the St. Louis Cardinals, Houston Astros, and New York Mets have checked in on Fedde too.
Erick Fedde would be a great length option for the Milwaukee Brewers.
For the Brewers Erick Fedde makes sense for numerous reasons. One being that just two of his starts this year have failed to go five innings. This means that he does an excellent job of consistently pitching 5+ innings while also pitching to a 3.11 ERA. Additionally Fedde comes with control through the 2025 season with an affordable $7.5 million salary.
What would kind of package would the Chicago White Sox need in order to send Erick Fedde to the Milwaukee Brewers?
Acquiring Erick Fedde, one of the top available pitching options at this year’s trade deadline, would not be cheap. Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell had previously been rumored to be a center piece for Milwaukee to use in order to acquire starting pitching and if the White Sox part ways with Luis Robert Jr and Tommy Pham they may gladly welcome Mitchell to their ball club in order to replenish their MLB outfield.
