The Milwaukee Brewers came up short in Houston as they lost the series finale 9-4 and overall lost two out of three games to the Astros. Additionally during their last game one Brewers player extended a MLB best streak whereas another had theirs snapped.
Houston Astros down the Milwaukee Brewers 9-4.
Sunday was not starting pitcher Colin Rea’s best day. After getting a one run lead in the top of the first Rea surrendered four runs in the bottom half. He ended up giving up five earned runs across as many innings. There was constant traffic on the bases against him as he gave up eight hits and four walks.
After Rea departed reliever Thyago Vieira gave up a home run and Milwaukee trailed 6-1. The Brewers closed the gap with a three run seventh inning but they immediately gave those runs back as Kyle Tucker belted a three run home run afterwards off of Mitch White.
William Contreras lost his MLB best on-base streak.
After hitting an epic home run off of Justin Verlander on Saturday evening William Contreras extended a MLB best on-base streak to 25 games. Unfortunately he failed to reach base safely on Sunday as he went 0-5 with two strikeouts. Overall this season Contreras has reached base safely in 42 out of 46 games.
Brice Turang stole his 35th consecutive base without getting caught.
A streak that started in July of 2023 is still going for Brice Turang as he swiped his 35th consecutive base without getting caught on Sunday. This stolen base, his 18th of the season, was a unique one as he was hit in the forehead diving into third base and needed to have his helmet replaced.
Moment of the game: Brice Turang starts off the game with a double inle and then Christian Yelich hits an RBI single in the top of the first to put the Brewers up 1-0.pic.twitter.com/QIMHs6Yjj0
