The Milwaukee Brewers popped the champagne bottles after defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1 on Wednesday night. Milwaukee won the NL Central division title for the second consecutive season but the division title was clinched before the game because the Chicago Cubs lost to the Oakland Athletics earlier in the day.
The Brewers will not turn the page on the celebration and face the Arizona Diamondbacks for a four-game series at home starting on Thursday night. The first pitch for this baseball game will be at 6:15 p.m. CT and it will be televised on FOX. For this matchup, the projected starting pitchers will be Brandon Pfaadt (9-9 record, 4.81 ERA) for Arizona and Tobias Myers (8-5 record, 3.07 ERA) for Milwaukee.
Projected Players To Watch For On the Milwaukee Brewers Against the Arizona Diamondbacks
It is impressive that the Brewers made it to the postseason in the first year of Pat Murphy being the manager. Milwaukee has an 88-64 record on the season and is currently the third seed in the National League.
Left fielder Jackson Chourio is projected to bat second for the Milwaukee Brewers. He has played in 138 games and has a .273 batting average with 21 home runs and 77 RBIs, along with 20 stolen bases and seven caught stealing attempts. Chourio also has a .328 on-base percentage.
Catcher William Contreras is projected to bat third for Milwaukee. He has played in 147 games and has a .281 batting average with 22 home runs and 90 RBIs, along with seven stolen bases and two caught stealing attempts. Contreras also has a .364 on-base percentage.
Tobias Myers has pitched in 24 games this season for the Brewers. He has pitched in 126.0 innings and has given up 115 hits and 47 runs. Myers has also walked 33 batters and has struck out 115 batters.
Players To Watch For On the Diamondbacks
Diamondbacks manager Torey Luvullo has Arizona with a record of 84-68 this season. They are tied with the New York Mets for the second wild card spot in the National League. Both teams are up over the Atlanta Braves by two games.
Second baseman Ketel Marte is projected to bat leadoff for the Arizona Diamondbacks. In 126 games played this season, he has a .289 batting average with 32 home runs and 87 RBIs, along with six stolen bases and one caught stealing attempt. Marte’s on-base percentage is .364.
Third baseman Eugenio Suarez is projected to bat seventh for Arizona. In 148 games this season, he has a .254 batting average with 28 home runs and 97 RBIs, along with two stolen bases and one caught stealing attempt. Suarez also has a .319 batting average.
Brandon Pfaadt has pitched in 29 games so far this season for the Diamondbacks. He has pitched in 166.2 innings and has given up 172 hits and 95 runs. Pfaadt also has walked 39 batters and has struck out 160 innings.
The Milwaukee Brewers just defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks in a series 2-1 on the road last week. This is a huge four-game set. This may not be the last time Milwaukee and Arizona may meet this season because there is a very good chance they will meet again in October.
