Unlike many big market teams in Major League Baseball, the Milwaukee Brewers have built a consistent contender by developing their own stars. As the smallest market in the league, they cannot (or will not) compete with other clubs for big-name free agents, regardless of need and how much they may help the team.
Current Brewers All-Stars like Freddy Peralta, Brandon Woodruff, and Jacob Misiorowski all came up in Milwaukee’s system. Fan favorites like Jackson Chourio, Brice Turang, and Sal Frelick did, too.
Indeed, it is not often that the Brewers make big splash moves, and most of their offseason transactions include trades or the signings of lesser-known Major League or minor league players that can compete for a spot on the roster.
They made two such moves on Thursday.
The Milwaukee Brewers signed Greg Jones to a minor league contract

As reported earlier, Milwaukee signed former Detroit Tigers outfielder Akil Baddoo to a one-year conract and added him to their 40-man roster.
Additionally, the Brewers signed former first round pick Greg Jones, formerly of the Chicago White Sox, to a minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training:

Jones, who was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2019, has also spent time with the Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros, and Chicago White Sox. He has appeared in only nine Major League games and his hit .143/.250/.571 with a home run in that time.
Unfortunately, Jones’ professional career has been hampered by injuries. He only played in 21 games in 2025 with the White Sox and Astros’ farm systems, hitting .183/.326/.282 with two home runs, 12 RBI, and 12 stolen bases.
In 2024, though, he played 89 games, most of them at Triple-A, and hit .267/.344/.453 with 16 home runs, 43 RBI, and 46 stolen bases.
