On Tuesday, the Milwaukee Brewers started a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves. Milwaukee showed out on the road during the first game of the series as they defeated Atlanta in glamorous style. The Brewers took a dominant 10-0 win. Some of the guys in the lineup stepped up in a huge way to earn this solid victory. It will be interesting to see if the Brewers can play just like they did throughout this series.
Milwaukee is 63-49 after this great win. They have a six-game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals for first place in the NL Central division. Atlanta is 60-52 and is six games behind the Philadelphia Phillies for first place in the NL East division.
Milwaukee Brewers Glamorous 10-0 Win Against the Braves
At the top of the first inning, Brewers catcher William Contreras blasted an RBI triple to right field. Two batters later, shortstop Willy Adames crushed his 18th home run of the season, a two-run shot to straightaway center field to give Milwaukee a 3-0 lead. During the next inning, Brewers third baseman Joey Ortiz hit an RBI single to center field. An inning later, Adames belted his 19th home run of the year, another two-run homer to left-center field to give the Brewers a 6-0 lead.
Brewers Onslaught Continues
Brewers second baseman Brice Turang made it a 7-0 game during the top of the fourth inning when he hit an RBI single to right field. Two innings later, Contreras thrashed a two-run double to right field. He lined another RBI double during the top of the eighth making it a 10-0 lead for Milwaukee. With two outs and the bases loaded at the top of the ninth, the Brewers had the chance to create more damage, however, center fielder Garrett Mitchell flew out to right field. Atlanta’s offense had no answers all game long and could not get one single run to score.
Top Performers from the Brewers 10-0 Win
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Colin Rea pitched seven innings allowing just five hits and a walk while striking out nine batters in the win. Both Adames and Contreras finished the game with four RBIs apiece. Adames went four for five at the plate while Contreras went three for four. Milwaukee collected 16 hits during this glamorous win. Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Bryce Elder pitched three and two third innings allowing seven runs on eight hits, and a walk while striking out six batters in the loss. Braves first baseman Matt Olson was the only batter to record multiple hits going two for four.
