Milwaukee Brewers prospect Sal Frelick is expected to make an impact at the big league level this season. Frelick has been touted for his hitting ability but not necessarily his ability to hit for power. He hit .365 at Triple-A last season but only hit 11 home runs in 492 at-bats. During spring training, however, he is showcasing his power with smashing success.

Brewers Player Development Tweeted a photo of a broken car windshield outside Milwaukee’s Arizona training facility. The windshield appears to have a baseball-shaped hole suggesting that a player damaged it with an out-of-the-park distance homer. The picture is captioned “Sal Frelick smashing spring dingers and windshields.”

The Milwaukee Brewers’ single-A affiliate, the Carolina Mudcats, got in on the fun as well. In response to Frelick’s bomb, the Mudcats released a clip on Twitter of the 22-year-old robbing a home run. The Mudcats harkened back to Frelick’s days in Carolina, saying “he takes away 💣’s like this from time to time also🤷♂️.”
Milwaukee Brewers Top Prospects
Frelick is among the top prospects in the Milwaukee Brewers organization. Earlier this year, MLB Pipeline rated him as the 30th overall prospect in baseball and the eighth-best outfield prospect. In its review of outfielders, MLB Pipeline dubbed Frelick the outfield prospect with the best hitting ability mentioning that “all he has done since turning pro is bat .331 in 154 games.” MLB Pipeline also described his running ability as “plus-plus speed [which] allows him to turn groundballs into hits.”
