The Milwaukee Brewers and the rest of Major League Baseball are preparing for a few of their players to spend some time away from their respective teams towards the end of Spring Training. That, of course, is because of the 2026 World Baseball Classic, which takes place every four years.
This year, Gold Glove and Platinum Glove winning second baseman Brice Turang will play for Team USA. Tyler Black, who is a top-30 prospect within the Brewers organization, will also play for Team Canada. Former Milwaukee first baseman Rowdy Tellez, who is a free agent, has committed to playing for Team Mexico.
And now, another Brewers prospect is getting the chance to represent his home country.
Milwaukee Brewers prospect Freddy Zamora will play for Team Nicaragua in the World Baseball Classic

Today, it was reported that Freddy Zamora, who plays shortstop for Milwaukee’s Triple-A club, the Nashville Sounds, will play for Nicaragua in the 2026 World Baseball Classic:

In 2025, Zamora appeared in 104 games for the Sounds, hitting .257/.353/.348 with four home runs, 46 RBI, and 13 stolen bases.
This was a great improvement over his 2024 season that saw him hit .193/.307/.261 with four home runs, 30 RBI, and nine stolen bases in 94 games split between Double-A and Triple-A.
At one time one of Milwaukee’s top prospects, Zamora has fallen out of the top 30 thanks in large part to the additions of Jesus Made, Luis Cruz, and Andrew Fischer, other infielders who are projected to have high ceilings.
At 26 years old, Zamora has risen as far as he can in the Brewers organization without being called up to the Majors. It will be interesting to see what his future with the team looks like going forward.
