Milwaukee Brewers just had a historic first half of the 2025 season by recording their highest win total heading to the All-Star Game. They head to the break with a 56-40 record, the third most by any team in the National League.

The greater thing about this record is they just finished a sweep of two teams from the two ends of the standings – the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Washington Nationals. They won seven straight and are 8-2 in their last 10. They also won seven of their last eight series.
Things appear going great for the Brewers right now but the was a time when everything looked uncertain. They started the season 0-4 and people, even their fans, were quick to write them down. It was also not just the record but also the way they lost.
“The Brewers are 0-4 with a 12.27 ERA and just tied the 1954 Cardinals for the most runs allowed through four games in the modern era (since 1900). And that’s with a position player, Jake Bauers, contributing two scoreless innings,” MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy wrote back in March.
Team veteran Freddy Peralta admits that they were also worried back then. He also said that he took it harder than everyone else because of the fact that he is on of the longest-tenured player in the team.

“It was a little hard for us, especially for me. I know I’ve been here for a long time and we’ve always been winning games since I came here,” he told reporters on Sunday.
“We were shaken, [it] was a little weird for us. For me. I was a little worried back then.”
How did Milwaukee Brewers deal with it?
The team dealt with lots of things back then, most importantly the injury to key players like Christian Yelich and Brandon Woodruff. The pitching crew was weakened due to the absence of several players.
Good thing for them, according to Peralta, they endured that tough stretch. Now, he feels proud about his boys who are making things happen.

“We just moved one game at a time. Everything was going better and better,” said Peralta who was also named to the All-Star Game on July 16
“And through the last month and a half, how great we have been playing. I feel proud of my boys, they guys, how they have been playing the offense and defense, the jump play.”
Brewers will return to action on Friday, July 19, for a rematch with Dodgers.
Peralta is an All-Star but he won’t pitch in the exhibition due to his Nationals duties. He was instead replaced by teammate Trevor Megill.
