The Milwaukee Brewers are on a roll, as they continue to keep on winning. On Saturday, Freddy Peralta finally put together a solid performance this August to help the Brewers take down the Cleveland Guardians at home to the tune of a 2-1 score.
After allowing eight earned runs on 13 hits through 11.0 innings in his first two starts of this month, Peralta proved to be too much to handle for the Guardians on Saturday, as he surrendered just an earned run on four hits with three strikeouts across six innings of action.
“I feel like Freddy’s been throwing the ball like that, but he hasn’t had the best of luck,” Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy said following the contest, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).
“I thought he was really, really good tonight.”
Despite anemic run support, Peralta was able to secure the pitching win, with the Brewers’ bullpen also doing its job after he left the mound
Joel Payamps, Jared Koenig, and Devin Williams combined for three perfect innings and three strikeouts, as the Brewers’ relief pitching shut the door on the Guardians.
On the season, Peralta, who just turned 28 years old last June, has an 8-7 record to go with a 4.00 ERA and 1.209 WHIP across 25 starts.
The Brewers can complete a series sweep of the Guardians this Sunday with Milwaukee giving the ball to Colin Rea. Milwaukee is on a four-game win streak and will take on the St. Louis Cardinals for a series at Busch Stadium after this Sunday’s date with Cleveland.
