Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez has dominated the Boston Red Sox throughout his career. Tellez formerly played in the American League East with the Toronto Blue Jays, so Boston was a frequent opponent. Now as a member of the Brew Crew that success has continued and the home runs are continuing to fly.
During the first two out of three games against the Red Sox, Rowdy Tellez has hit home runs in each contest. He also has collected four runs batted in. Throughout his career he currently has a .336 batting average, 14 home runs, and 29 RBIs in 110 at-bats against Boston.
On Saturday night Tellez had a two run home run and a ground out to score a run. The Brewers won that game 5-4, so his contributions highly swayed the outcome. He also has been doing a lot of damage with two strikes.

What is it about Rowdy Tellez against the Red Sox? “They’re just the unfortunate team, I guess. Somebody’s always got to have one team to do better against than the others, and I guess the Sox are mine.” pic.twitter.com/bouc9cOqJy

When asked about his success against the Boston Red Sox, Rowdy Tellez indicated that he has been asked this question several times and responded with, “This is the big leagues, it’s a hard game. No matter who rolls out there, no matter what team, everyday there is a chance of going 0-4 with four strikes. I think sometimes it’s just the way it works out.”
Tellez also goes into further detail about his approach at the plate for his big home run came on a two strike pitch. “It’s the same approach I’ve used all year and my entire career,” said Tellez, “Take out the leg kick, get the foot down, and see the pitch.” To begin 2023, Tellez is chasing just 23.8% of pitches outside of the strike zone and his strikeout rate is a low 23.1%.
Game three of the Milwaukee Brewers vs Boston Red Sox series will be Sunday April 23 with the first pitch scheduled for 1:10 PM CT.
