The Milwaukee Brewers have a very exciting team this season. Despite not being expected to contend in 2024 due to Corbin Burnes being traded and Brandon Woodruff being out for the year, the Brewers have achieved a 36-23 record and are seven games ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals for first place in the National League Central Division.
To get to this point, Milwaukee has had to rely on contributions from many young players, some of them who are rookies. Third baseman Joey Ortiz, for example, was just named the National League Rookie of the Month and is hitting .293/.391/.503 with five home runs and 21 RBI. Rookie starting pitcher Robert Gasser has been seeing success no Brewers rookie pitcher has since Woodruff’s first season.
Indeed, there are multiple fan-favorites currently on the roster (Willy Adames and William Contreras being two of the most popular). However, one former fan-favorite is back on the market, and Brewers fans are calling on the team to bring him back.
Milwaukee Brewers Fans Want Keston Hiura Back After His Release from the Detroit Tigers
The Detroit Tigers made a flurry of roster moves on Monday afternoon. Among them was the outright release of former Brewers first round pick Keston Hiura.

After signing with the Tigers in the offseason, Hiura failed to make the Opening Day roster out of Spring Training. He has been playing with Triple-A Toledo, but was hitting just .232/.312.401 with six home runs and 24 RBI. He also struck out 56 times in 49 games.
Once a second baseman, he was playing strictly first base and designated hitter for the Tigers organization.

It is worth noting that many Tigers fans were upset with this move as well, as they wanted Hiura promoted. It is also worth noting that Hiura still uses his Brewers bags:

Should the Milwaukee Brewers Bring Back Keston Hiura?
On the one hand, Hiura hit .311/.397/.563 with 23 home runs and 79 RBI for the Brewers’ minor league system last year. On the other hand, he has nowhere to play. Triple-A Nashville boasts Tyler Black at first base, a prospect that has already appeared in the Majors this season and is likely a part of the franchise’s future.
Hiura is not good enough defensively at second base or in the outfield to warrant playing time there, and the Brewers have plenty of prospects at those positions as well.
As good as it would have been to see him succeed in a Brewers uniform, it most likely will not happen.
