By now all fans know about the rule changes coming to Major League Baseball. The pitch clock and shift ban have already been implemented into spring training games and pitchers are making the adjustment to the new pace of play. Brewers reliever Devin Williams spoke to Adam McCalvy about his thoughts on the rule changes.
Milwaukee Brewers’ Devin Williams Opinion

Devin Williams usually takes his time in between pitches, but he will have to move on from that part of the game. He told Adam McCalvy how he is adjusting to the pitch clock in spring training.
“I’m pretty much used to it at this point,” said Williams. “Maybe I’ll adjust a little more as time goes on, but I felt pretty comfortable out there.”
Williams, like many pitchers, will be changing their pace this season. Williams is using spring training to adjust but acknowledged the change.
“I don’t typically rush, other guys work faster than me,” Williams said. “But that was a part of the game. I guess it won’t be anymore.”
Devin Williams 2022 Stats
Devin Williams’ 2022 season was quite the eventful one. He was thrust into the closer role when the Milwaukee Brewers traded Josh Hader to the San Diego Padres. Williams was named an All-Star and will look to repeat that feat in 2023. Last season Williams posted a 1.93 ERA, 1.005 WHIP and a 6-4 record. Williams worked 60.2 innings and recorded 96 strikeouts.
Williams will likely start 2023 in the closer role. He will have big shoes to fill taking over the role Josh Hader held for so long. However, he assumed that role for the majority of the second half of the season.
