The Milwaukee Brewers failed to extend their win streak to seven games after absorbing a 10-6 loss in extra innings at the hands of the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium Wednesday night. The Brewers were already tasting another win when they entered the ninth inning with a two-run lead and the always-dependable Devin Williams on the mound to try to close out the contest.
However, Williams struggled, as he allowed two earned runs on a hit and issued three walks to blow a save. He was replaced by Trevor Megill, who didn’t do any better. Megill walked two hitters before Nolan Arenado hit a walk-off grand slam to end the night and give the Cardinals the victory.

Fans have come after Williams over his uncharacteristically poor performance on the mound against the Cardinals:
“DEVIN WILLIAMS IS BANNED FROM TOUCHING A BASEBALL MOUND UNTIL AT LEAST SATURDAY.”
“8 straight balls and Devin Williams blows the 2 run lead, and therefore a blown save because he can’t throw a strike Ohhhhhhhhhh baby. Idc that it’s against the Cardinals. That’s cinema”
“I don’t think I have ever been this pissed off at a player who lost me a sports bet. Holy s–t Devin Williams, you are TERRIBLE”
“Devin Williams has lost command and has lost it fast. He walks Matt Carpenter and Tommy Pham to force in two runs. It’s a tie game. The bases are still loaded with two outs, and Masyn Winn can walk this one off.”
“Devin Williams pitched so bad for the Brewers tonight, I wouldn’t be surprised if the MLB is rigged just like the NFL!”
