The Milwaukee Brewers and Detroit Tigers kicked off a three game weekend series on Friday, June 7. Their series opener was dominated by the Brew Crew as they won by a score of 10-0. Tobias Myers pitched excellent for Milwaukee whereas a former Brewers farmhand got ruffed up for Detroit.

Entering Friday’s game day against the Tigers the Brewers had their starting pitcher listed as to be determined. They ended up going with rookie Tobias Myers. He had been optioned to the minor leagues not too long ago and was able to be recalled due to Robert Gasser landing on the injured list. Myers ended up throwing eight scoreless innings on 100 pitches and allowed just one hit.
Current Detroit Tigers starting pitcher and former Brewers farmhand Reese Olson was tagged with eight earned runs.
Reese Olson, a former 13th round draft pick by the Brewers, was traded by Milwaukee at the 2021 deadline in exchange for Daniel Norris. In 2024 he had been great for the Tigers as through his first 11 starts he had a 2.48 ERA. Milwaukee made his ERA rise to 3.43 after they scored eight runs off him through four innings.

Every player in the Brewers starting lineup reached base in this game with Brice Turang recording four hits, Christian Yelich three, Blake Perkins three, and rounding out the players with multiple hits were Joey Ortiz and Sal Frelick with two. Turang’s four hit performance was the first of his career. Yelich reached base safely all five times in this game. Lastly, Perkins had two triples in this game in which he previously had not recorded a triple in the big leagues.
