The Milwaukee Brewers are 14-5 and remain in first place in the National League Central Division. The fact that they have been able to get off to such a good start is nothing short of amazing given the fact of how many injuries they have sustained. Brandon Woodruff, Aaron Ashby, and Adrian Houser are all in the IL. While Houser is currently rehabbing with the Nashville Sounds, Woodruff may not be back until August and Ashby may miss the whole season. Corbin Burnes left his latest start with an apparent pectoral injury, causing more concern about the Brewers’ starting pitching. Fortunately, Burnes and Counsell have provided fans with good updates on his status.

“So, when I woke up this morning, generally it was kind of sore. Same area, but it didn’t really feel like a pec. Maybe more along the lines of sternum or maybe a rib. Probably was just overcompensating with a pec last night. And that’s even better news today, you know. It’s not a pec. So just going to continue to get some work, do my best today and tomorrow, and going to play catch tomorrow so we’ll know more after I play catch.
“No concerns. Just normal soreness. Probably got away with something before it got too bad.”
Craig Counsell updated the media about how Burnes’ game of catch went today:
Craig Counsell said Corbin Burnes’s throwing session before today’s game went well.

Burnes is scheduled to start for the Brewers against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.

In his previous start, the one from which he was removed, Burnes pitched 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks. He struck out three.
