On Tuesday, the Milwaukee Brewers started a three-game series with the San Francisco Giants. During the first game of this series, the Brewers took a crushing 5-4 loss. Last night, Milwaukee came back scoring five runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-3 victory. Now one final game will determine this series, and the Brewers look to stow upon their lead within the NL Central division.
Milwaukee is 76-56 after this win. They lead by 10 games in the NL Central over the 68-66 Chicago Cubs. San Fransisco sits even at 67-67. They are 12 games behind the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West division and eight and a half games back from the third-place San Diego Padres.
Milwaukee Brewers Conquer Giants in 5-3 Victory
No team would score until the fifth inning. It would be none other than Brewers left fielder Jackson Chourio, who hit a 449-foot bomb in Tuesday night’s loss and scored the first run of the game during the bottom of the fifth inning when he lined an RBI single into right field. In the next at-bat, center fielder Blake Perkins knocked a two-run double off the left-field wall to give Milwaukee a 3-0 lead. Then, in the next at-bat, Brewers catcher William Contreras crushed a two-run home run to left-center field.
San Francisco Scores Late Runs, Yet Still Earns the Loss
At the top of the seventh inning, Giants third baseman Matt Chapman scored on a throwing error by Brewers third baseman Joey Ortiz. A half inning later, Brewers right fielder Sal Frelick was taken out of the game after being struck by a pitch from Austin Warren. Hopefully, his injury is not too severe and he can come back to action immediately. During the top of the eighth, Giants left fielder Michael Conforto hit an RBI double deep into left field. Two batters later, Giants designated hitter Heliot Ramos cranked an RBI single to center field. San Francisco could not continue their rally and would fall in this one 5-3.
Top Performers from the Brewers 5-3 Victory
