Coaching staff clarity tops Brewers’ to-do list at Winter Meetings

Like many organizations, the Milwaukee Brewers use MLB Winter Meetings as a valuable information-gathering hub. While free-agent signings and trades will grab the headlines, the real benefit often comes from the chance to connect with front-office personnel, scouts, and coaching minds across the league. This year, identifying and speaking with potential coaching candidates will be near the top of Milwaukee’s priority list.

The Milwaukee Brewers have lost two members of their coaching staff this off-season

In 2026, a pair of familiar faces will be missing from the Brewers dugout. Former Associate Manager Rickie Weeks will no longer be present, as instead he has elected to move into a front office role. Additionally, hitting coaching Connor Dawson has accepted a job with the Kansas City Royals, which is his hometown.

Adding staff members prior to 2026 begins is expected

At MLB.com, Milwaukee beat reporter Adam McCalvy noted, “The Brewers are expected to make more moves to set the 2026 staff, and they will probably spend some of their time in Orlando working on that critical puzzle.”

His comments make it clear that more additions are on the horizon. While McCalvy did not mention specific names, and the Brewers have yet to confirm anything publicly, MLB reporter Mike Rodriguez has indicated that Juan Sandoval is expected to join the big-league staff as a pitching coach.

As the Winter Meetings unfold, the Brewers appear poised to add to their coaching infrastructure. With two vacant roles, Milwaukee’s front office will use this time to identify potential fits.
