The Milwaukee Brewers have a good one in outfielder Jackson Chourio. He’s not just one of the best players on his team; Chourio is also among the most impressive hitters in the big leagues in the 2024 MLB regular season thus far.
Jackson Chourio is the future
Oozing with potential, Chourio has been consistently turning heads with his play in just his first season in Major League Baseball. He hit just .,176 in April and .215 in May. But since then, he appears to have already figured out a lot about how to make a tremendous impact with his bat for Milwaukee, which remains the top team to beat in the National League Central division
Thanks to his fantastic play, Chourio has a decent chance to win the 2024 National League Rookie of the Year. Jim Bowden of The Athletic has Chourio ranked third in the NL Rookie of the Year race.
Jackson Chourio got off to a slow start, batting .206 in March/April and .215 in May. But since then he’s been the machine many expected, hitting .315 in June, .317 in July and .321 in August. Overall, he has 15 home runs, 18 stolen bases and a 110 OPS+. If Chourio continues to hit like this the rest of the way, he could catch both Skenes and Merrill by the end of the season.
So far in the 2024 season, Chourio is sporting slash lines of .275/.319/.445 with 15 home runs, 19 doubles, and a couple of triples through 115 games and 400 plate appearances.
Chourio can still strengthen his case for the 2024 NL Rookie of the Year award
There is still so much room for growth for Chourio, who just turned 20 years old last March.
As mentioned by Bowden, Chourio can see his rank on the list improve if he can keep — if not improve — his form as the season heads to its final months and weeks. Ahead of Chourio on Bowden’s rankings are San Diego Padres outfielder Jackson Merrill (No. 2) and Pittsburgh Pirates flamethrowing pitcher, Paul Skenes (No. 1).
