The Milwaukee Brewers currently have three players in MLB Pipeline’s top 100 prospect list. Jackson Chourio is ranked second overall, Sal Frelick is 22nd, and at number 100 is Jeferson Quero. MLB Pipeline’s top 100 list was recently updated due to Grayson Rodriguez graduating out of prospect status. This is what prompted Jeferson Quero to make the prestigious list.

Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jeferson Quero is a top 100 prospect.
Jeferon Quero is currently 20 years old and is playing in Double-A with the Biloxi Shuckers. He’s off to a tremendous start at the plate and has a .283/.323/.511 slash line. Recently he had a three home run game and overall he has six long balls on the season.
An increased slugging ability and power is good news for Quero, who is most known for his work behind the dish. He is an excellent defender with an incredibly strong throwing arm. His floor as a prospect is a defensive catcher, but if he continues to hit well his value is only going to increase.
Injuries have limited Jeferson Quero in the past for he has dealt with shoulder and hamstring issues in 2021 and 2022. This may have delayed him being announced as a top 100 prospect sooner. Right now he’s doing a lot of great things at a young age.
It will be interesting to see how long the Brewers keep Quero in Double-A for. Outfielder Jackson Chourio is also there. A season ago Milwaukee promoted their top outfield prospects in Joey Wiemer, Sal Frelick, and Garrett Mitchell to Triple-A simultaneously. I would not be surprised if Quero and Chourio are treated similarly.
