The Milwaukee Brewers are hoping to win the National League Central Division for the third year in a row in 2025. They certainly have the talent to do so, with multiple Gold Glove defenders, the best catcher in baseball (William Contreras), and a young superstar in the making, Jackson Chourio. Not to be forgotten, Christian Yelich is having a fantastic spring in his return from back surgery that ended his 2024 campaign when he hit .315/.406/.504.

At the moment, though, Milwaukee is simply trying to get to the start of the 2025 season with their roster intact. Aaron Ashby and DL Hall have both suffered injuries this spring. While Ashby is only shut down for a couple of weeks, Hall is currently on the 60-day IL. Blake Perkins suffered a broken leg during batting practice a couple of weeks ago and Brandon Woodruff is still trying to come back from a shoulder injury that cost him his 2024 season.

The Milwaukee Brewers Saw Two More Players Get Injured on Saturday

New York Mets left fielder Brandon Nimmo (9) flies out to Milwaukee Brewers second base Brice Turang (2) during the fourth inning of Game 3 of National League wild-card series on Thursday October 3, 2024 at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wis.

Milwaukee played two games on Saturday, both resulting in shutout victories. One was an 8-0 win over the Athletics, a game that saw Freddy Peralta pitch into the sixth inning while not allowing any runs or walks. Rhys Hoskins and Contreras both hit mammoth home runs.

But the second game, a 4-0 victory over the Los Angeles Angels, saw the Brewers come out a little beat up.

Gold glove second baseman Brice Turang, who is expected to move to shortstop this year, was scratched from the lineup prior to the game with shoulder soreness.

During the game, right-handed starting pitcher Tobias Myers, who was 9-6 with a 3.00 ERA last year as a rookie, was pulled with what turned out to be an oblique injury.

Of Myers, Murphy said, “We’re really concerned. I mean, whenever you’re talking about an oblique, whether it’s mild or whatever it is, he had to come out of the game, it’s concerning. … But we have to get further testing to find out really what that is.”

Fortunately, he had a better update on Turang.

As mentioned, Turang is believed to be moving to shortstop this season following the departure of Willy Adames in free agency. It would appear that the extra work he is doing at the position has caused a bit of shoulder fatigue, though.

As for Brice Turang, no cause for alarm. Dealing with some shoulder soreness from all the work at shortstop, Pat Murphy decided to scratch him. He was otherwise fine and medically cleared to play today.

As seen in the post above, Turang was medically cleared to play; but Murphy sat him anyway out of an abundance of caution.

The 2024 Platinum Glove winner is hitting .258/.303/.419 with a home run, three RBI, and a stolen base so far this spring.
