The Milwaukee Brewers took many people by surprise last season, winning 93 game in route to their second consecutive National League Central Division title. Perhaps the only people they did not surprise is themselves. Prior to the beginning of the 2024 MLB season, manager Pat Murphy told reporters that Brice Turang, in particular, was going to take a quantum leap.
And did he ever!
Milwaukee Brewers Second Baseman Brice Turang Had a Stellar 2024 Season
As a rookie in 2023, Turang hit just .218/.285/.300 with six home runs, 34 RBI, and 26 stolen bases. While he played good defense at second base, his struggles at the plate led to an in-season demotion to Tripe-A for while.
With the hitting disappearance of Keston Hiura still fresh on the minds of fans, many believed that Turang, while an elite defender, was going to follow a similar path.
But even though he does not have the power capabilities of Hiura, Turang did prove that he can, at the very least, be an average Major League batter.
In 2024, he hit .254/.316/.349 with seven home runs, 57 RBI, and a team-leading 50 stolen bases.
Not only that, but he won the National League Gold Glove at second base and the league’s Platinum Glove, which is awarded to the best defensive player, regardless of position.
Milwaukee Brewers Second Baseman Brice Turang Snubbed from Top-10 List
Despite winning the Gold and Platinum Gloves, MLB Network left him off of their list of the top-10 second basemen in the game. Based on their list, in fact, the Brewers second baseman is not even top-two in his position within the division. Brendan Donovan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Nico Hoerner of the Chicago Cubs both made the list.
Needless to say, Brewers fans were not happy:

You leave off Turang on the day Milwaukee is mourning the loss of Mr. Baseball?

Brice Turang had a higher bWAR than every player on this list other than Marte. Insane to not have him on this list at all

not having the Gold AND Platinum Glover on here is criminal

Of course, it is nothing new for the major networks and national analysts to overlook Milwaukee players and the Brewers in general.
Hopefully Turang will be able to remind them of just how good he was last year with another stellar season in 2025.
