The Milwaukee Brewers signed an exciting group of players from this year’s MLB Draft. In total four players ended up making the team’s top 30 prospect list with Braylon Payne initially coming in ninth, Bryce Meccage, 14th, Blake Burke 15th, and Travis Smith 28th. Per reports one of these players was recently assigned to Low-A Carolina to join the Mudcats before postseason play begins.

Per Chase Ford, sports reporter for MiLB Central, the Brewers have assigned outfielder Braylon Payne to the Carolina Mudcats. Payne was the team’s first round draft selection this year. The 17th overall pick was selected out of High School, was one of the youngest players in the draft, and is a difference maker with his elite speed.
What has Braylon Payne been doing since being drafted?
After being drafted a few weeks past before he put pen to paper and signed with the organization. From there he was sent to Arizona to finish being onboarded and then he competed in some unofficial games. No stats are available but some videos have surfaced of his performance.

When do the playoffs begin for the Carolina Mudcats?
The Carolina Mudcats were the first half winners and therefore were granted a spot in the Minor League post-season. On Tuesday, September 10 they will square off against the second half winner. This will be a best of three game series with the winner advancing to a best of three Championship series.
