Brandon Woodruff’s return for the Milwaukee Brewers was delayed after he veteran pitcher was injured on the last day of his rehab in the minors.

He has been away from game for two years now after undergoing a right shoulder surgery that he suffered in August of 2023. He could have returned in early June but then he got unlucky after he was hit on the elbow by the ball during a throw as pitcher for the Triple-A Nashville.
Before that, he said that he wanted to take everything slow and not rush himself to return despite the team’s dire need for a pitching change. He sees the setback on a different light.
“My biggest fear was that it was going to be broken and likely cost me the rest of the season,” he said.
“But as far as right now, I’m probably a day or so from getting the swelling out.”
He was immediately placed in the 60-day injured list but his recovery went better than expected. He is now set to make his debut for the 2025 season.

The team announced that he is set to pitch for the team’s series finale against the Miami Marlins. The series is currently tied at 1-1.
Brandon Woodruff’s pitching coach wants him to have fun
Woodruff has been a very reliable pitcher for the Brewers since arriving there in 2017. His schedule return became highly anticipated back in April and May due to the team’s struggle and his caliber is seen as some kind of rescue.
Manager Pat Murphy is excited about his return but he is not putting everything on him. Especially now that they are looking better compared to the past months.
Pitching coach Chris Hook does not want to put any pressure on him either. All he wants is for the veteran to enjoy pitching.

“I think he’s going to go out there and compete and see where we’re at, get a baseline and then kind of continue from there,” he said when asked about his expectation of Woodruff.
“I can’t say it’s going to be this or that because I don’t know. I’m just going to let him go out and enjoy the day and compete and be excited about it. And after that, we’ll be able to say this is where we think we are, and then we’ll be able to build from that.”
