The Milwaukee Brewers will be hosting the New York Mets for the best of three games Wild Card Series. Game one of the series will be Tuesday, October 1 and injured starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Alongside him will also be franchise legend Jim Gantner.
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff has not pitched this year after undergoing shoulder surgery last off-season.
Last October Brandon Woodruff had shoulder surgery to repair a torn anterior capsule. At the end of August this year he had progressed to throwing off a mound. Although he won’t pitch in a game for the Brewers this year he will get the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Brewers home opener of the 2024 playoffs.
Jim Gantner will throw out a ceremonial first pitch alongside Brandon Woodruff.
Per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com and Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Brewers legend Jim Gantner will also throw out a first pitch on Tuesday. Gantner, whose #17 hasn’t been worn by another player since his retirement in 1992, spent 17 seasons with Milwaukee and grew up in Campbellsport.
