The Thursday night game between the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals has, all of a sudden, become one of the most anticipated games in Major League Baseball this week. This is due to the fact that the Brewers have called up Jacob Misiorowski, their fourth-overall rated prospect and top minor league pitcher, to make his Major League debut.

In order to make room for Misiorowski in the starting rotation, Milwaukee moved Aaron Civale to the bullpen. On Thursday, his 30th birthday, Civale requested a trade away from the Brewers so that he can continue to start somewhere else.

He will be a free agent at the end of the season.

The Milwaukee Brewers Put Brandon Woodruff Back on the 60-Day IL to Make a Roster Spot for Jacob Misiorowski

According to the Brewers, Easton McGee was optioned back to Triple-A Nashville in order to make room for Misiorowski on the active roster. Additionally, Milwaukee opened up a spot for him on their 40-man roster by moving Brandon Woodruff to the 60-day injured list:

Woodruff, who has been so close to returning to the Majors on two occasions this season, has suffered unfortunate setbacks. The first time, his return was delayed due to an ankle injury.

And when he was set to return from that, he was struck in the right elbow by a line drive during his final rehab start.

The good news, however, is that being moved to the 60-day injured list does not affect when Woodruff can return. Since he has technically never come off the IL this year, he will be able to return to the Major League as soon as he is ready.

That being said, he has not pitched since getting hit in the elbow by that line drive.
