The Milwaukee Brewers organization, Major League Baseball, and fans everywhere received news today that many hoped would never come: Hall of Fame radio broadcaster Bob Uecker has passed away. He was 90 years old.
Unknown to many, Uecker had been battling lung cancer since 2023.
Social media was flooded today with current Brewers players, actors, comedians, former players, and fans sharing their condolences and favorite Uecker stories. Many of these were heartfelt, many of them were funny.
But one, which surprisingly has not been deleted yet, claimed that Uecker did not work for Milwaukee.
Alex Rodriguez Claims Bob Uecker Worked for Cleveland, and not Milwaukee Brewers
Alex Rodriguez, who spent his career with the Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, and New York Yankees, is one of the most controversial players in recent memory. While he hit over 600 career home runs, his connection to performance enhancing drugs has kept him out of the Hall of Fame.
When hearing of Uecker’s passing, Rodriguez posted the following on social media:
Heartbroken to lose Bob Uecker, an iconic voice of baseball. He brought joy not only to Cleveland but to baseball fans everywhere. And his iconic catchphrases like “Get up! Get up! Get outta here! Gone!” will never be forgotten.

As one can see, Rodriguez says that the Milwaukee icon brought Cleveland fans joy. Obviously, this is probably because of Uecker’s role as the Cleveland Indians announcer in the movie Major League.
However, the Brewers are the only team for which Uecker worked.
Milwaukee Brewers Fans Bid Farewell to Bob Uecker
Of course, Brewers fans felt the loss of Uecker the most of any fanbase. Many took to social media to share their grief:
Bob Uecker passed away today. I mentioned this to my wife and she asked, “Wasnt he in Mr. Belvedere?”
Thats the first thing you think of when I say Bob Uecker!?!?I wont even go into her not knowing what, “I must be in the front row…” means.

I may not be a lifelong Brewers fan, but I am a lifelong baseball fan. I get it. This one hurts.

This was Bob Uecker’s last words on the Brewers broadcast. It hurts even more now.
Bob Uecker felt this loss.
“Well, New York, down. They did it. And The Crew will uh, will have it end, here tonight.”
“I’m telling you. That one — had some sting on it.”#RIPBobUecker pic.twitter.com/gwVFq96rBj

This is a loss worse than any the Brewers have had on the field. Hopefully the team can win him a World Series now that he will have the best seat in the house.
