In the second game, the game will be played at 5:40 p.m. CT. For the second game, the projected starting pitchers will be DL Hall (0-1 record, 6.43 ERA) for the Milwaukee Brewers and Rhett Lowder (0-0 record, 0.00 ERA) for the Cincinnati Reds.
Players To Watch For On the Milwaukee Brewers Against the Cincinnati Reds
The Brewers sit in first place in the National League Central with a 77-56 record. Milwaukee is trying to catch the Philadelphia Phillies and the Los Angeles Dodgers for one of the byes in the National League playoffs. Brewers manager Pat Murphy has a chance to win the National League Manager of the Year Award.
In the first game of the doubleheader for the Milwaukee Brewers, designated hitter Jake Bauers is projected to bat cleanup. In 94 games played this season, he has a .202 batting average with 11 home runs and 40 RBIs, along with nine stolen bases and one caught stealing attempt. His on-base percentage is .311.
Second baseman Brice Turang is projected to bat leadoff for Milwaukee in the first game of the doubleheader against the Reds. Turang has played in 127 games this season and has a .254 batting average with seven home runs and 50 RBIs, along with 37 stolen bases and six caught stealing attempts. His on-base percentage is .317.
Colin Rea has pitched in 25 games this season and has started in 22 of them. He has pitched in 142.0 innings and has given up 128 hits and 59 runs. Rea has also walked only 36 batters and has struck out 113 batters.
Reds Players To Watch
The Cincinnati Reds have been in a massive slump. This is the kind of season that manager David Bell did not envision for them. The Reds are in fourth place in the National League Central with a 64-70 record. Cincinnati will look to play for pride in this series and not roll over against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Shortstop Elly De La Cruz is projected to bat second for the Reds in the first game of the doubleheader. He has appeared in 132 games this season. De La Cruz has a .262 batting average with 22 home runs and 60 RBIs, along with 61 stolen bases and 12 caught stealing attempts. He has a .344 on-base percentage.
Second Baseman Jonathan India is projected to bat leadoff for Cincinnati in the first game of the doubleheader. He has appeared in 125 games this season. India has a .248 batting average with 12 home runs and 50 RBIs, along with 12 stolen bases and one caught stealing attempt. His on-base percentage is .349.
Nick Martinez has pitched in 36 games this year for the Cincinnati Reds and has started in 10. He has pitched 104.1 innings and has given up 103 hits and 46 runs. Martinez has also walked 13 batters and has struck out 83 batters.
It will be interesting to see how the lineups look for the second game of the doubleheader on Friday night. The Milwaukee Brewers have played well against tough competition but can’t afford to play down to the Cincinnati Reds this weekend.
