Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames had a big performance on Monday against the St. Louis Cardinals. He made his impact on the game right away, as he hit a three-run home run in the first inning to give the Brewers a 3-0 cushion and help Milwaukee score a 9-3 victory.
That was quite a way for Adames to celebrate his birthday, who turned 29 years old on Sunday as well. With that first-inning blast, Adames has stretched his home run streak to five games. He is just the third player in Brewers franchise history to have such a streak, joining Jeromy Burnitz and Eric Thames in the extremely exclusive club. Burnitz and Thames did it in 1997 and 2017, respectively.
“For the first time in my career, I got a little emotional,” Adames said about his feat, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).
“It’s something that I’ve dreamed about since I was a kid. Just doing incredible things like that.”
Fans react to Willy Adames’ home run
