Aaron Civale continues to build his reputation as a fantastic pitcher when he’s on the mound at the home of the Milwaukee Brewers. On Thursday night, Civale played awesome at American Family Field anew, as he helped Milwaukee come up with a 6-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants.
Civale pitched like a man on a mission in the series finale opposite the National League West division club. The 29-year-old Civale went seven innings deep, giving up zero earned runs and just two hits while issuing a pair of free passes and striking out seven San Francisco hitters on 92 pitches.
“Just worked on getting the delivery in a good spot,” Civale said after the game, per Steve Megargee of the Associated Press.
“It’s on me to go out there and compete. That’s the emphasis with each pitch, is just to throw a competitive pitch. Whatever happens, know that the work behind it is valid, and just having confidence in that.”
Aaron Civale was brilliant again at home in win over the Giants
So far in the 2024 MLB regular season, Civale has gone 5-8. He has a 4.59 ERA and 1.34 WHIP through 26 starts this season, but since joining the Brewers, he’s posted a 3-2 record to go with a 3.72 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. Not only that but he’s put up a 1.45 ERA across five starts with Milwaukee at American Family Field.
Civale was acquired by the Brewers last July via a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays.
It was not just Civale who was brilliant on the mound for the Brewers in the Giants game. After he left the mound, Aaron Ashby took over and held San Francisco hitless for two innings.
Winners of six of their last 10 games, the Brewers are now 77-56. They will next take on the Cincinnati Reds in a four-game series that starts this Friday evening at the Great American Ball Park.
