The Milwaukee Brewers are back on track after suffering two losses in a row, as they are now on a two-game win streak following a 6-0 takedown of the visiting San Francisco Giants on Thursday night at American Family Field.
The Brewers dominated San Francisco on the mound and at the plate, with starting pitcher Aaron Civale delivering a gem for Milwaukee. Civale silenced the Giants for seven innings. He allowed just a couple of hits and issued two walks while recording seven punchouts in what can be said as his best performance in the 2024 MLB regular season, thus far.
Even San Francisco manager Bob Melvin had nothing but praises for Civale, who improved to 5-8 and reduced his ERA down to 4.59.
Via Steve Megargee of the Associated Press:
“It looked like an awful game for us, all the way around, whether it was the pitching, defense, offense,” Giants manager Bob Melvin said. “Their guy pitched good. He had a good cutter. He had a good sinker, threw just enough off-speed to keep us off balance.”
Civale appears to like pitching at American Family Field. Since getting traded to the Brewers by the Tampa Bay Rays for infielder Gregory Barrios last July, Civale has posted a 1.45 ERA across five starts at home.
