The Milwaukee Brewers dropped the series opener to the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 8-5. Aaron Civale made his team debut in this game and Rhys Hoskins hit a grand slam, but Will Smith of the Dodgers stole the show with a multi-home run performance.
Aaron Civale made his Milwaukee Brewers debut against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
After foregoing an in person meeting with the team in altitude (Colorado) Aaron Civale threw a bullpen in Arizona and then met his new Brewers teammates and coaches Friday in Los Angeles. He also was given the ball that day to face the Dodgers in which the 29 year old threw 102 pitches, covered five innings, allowed four hits and four earned runs, walked three, struck out eight, and generated 13 whiffs.
Rhys Hoskins hit the Milwaukee Brewers seventh grand slam of the season.
The Brewers currently lead the league in grand slams this season with seven. They have hit six of them over the past 13 games and are just the third team since 1900 to do so. San Diego did this twice during 2020 season and the 1996 Montreal Expos were the other.

Will Smith of the Los Angeles Dodgers hit three home runs.
Friday night’s game may have been Shohei Ohtani’s birthday but it was his teammate Will Smith who ended up getting all the attention as he hit three home runs in this contest. Two of his long balls came off Aaron Civale and the third against Bryan Hudson.
The Brewers and Dodgers will play next on National Television. Their Saturday night game will be aired on FOX with the first pitch scheduled for 6:15 PM CT.
