The Milwaukee Brewers kick off the Major League Baseball season on Thursday against their rival the Chicago Cubs. The Brewers look to make it back to the playoffs and continue to have a winning baseball team in Milwaukee. They have made some off-season moves, but some fans think they need more. So here are three bold predictions for the Brew Crew in 2023.
The Brewers do not win the NL Central
The first bold prediction of the 2023 season is the Brewers do not win the NL Central, since the Cubs acquired Dansby Swanson, Cody Bellinger, and Trey Mancini. Chicago also has a few key players coming back, like Ian Happ and Marcus Stroman, so the Cubs are here to win. Also, since the Cardinals always have the Brewer’s number year after year, the Brewers might have a tough year with games that matter. But the Brew Crew could get over that hump to beat the those teams. They have the pitching staff to win at least 85 games and win the division, but the Cubs and Cardinals always win games that matter against the Brewers.
Yelich will hit 30+ homers
The second bold prediction- though controversial- is that Yelich could return to his MVP form. He has said in multiple interviews that this is the best he has ever felt in years coming after his off-season workouts. Christian Yelich also might gain his confidence back batting in the lead-off spot starting this year. Corbin Burnes will not be traded in 2023
Corbin Burnes’s arbitration hearing was the biggest story around the Brewers and possibly the MLB. With him being frustrated with the team and being public about it, rumors started flying about him getting traded. Well, in 2023, it is predicted he will not be exchanged. He might even have his best season ever. The Brewers should be contenders this year, and trading their best player would be a bad look. Fans could argue that the Brewers did that exact thing last year, trading Josh Hader when the Brewers were in first place, but they should not have to make that mistake twice. Corbin’s Burnes most likely won’t be on the team after 2024, so Burnes will pitch to show that he deserves a massive contract from a different team.
