The Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago White Sox began a three game series at American Family Field on Friday, May 31. This weekend series will finish up what has been an all Chicago homestand in which the Crew won three out of four games against the Cubs earlier in the week. Their dominance against Chicago teams continued on the last day of May as they collected a MLB best 23 hits and scored 12 runs.
Innings 1-6 of the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago White Sox game was a roller coaster.

Through the first two thirds of this game the Brewers and White Sox exchanged the lead four different times. Milwaukee was on the board first in the second inning, Chicago countered with three runs in the third, the Brewers put up three in the fourth, and then the White Sox plated two runs in the fifth to give them a 5-4 lead. Tobias Myers (4.1 IP, 5 ER) and Erick Fedde (5 IP, 4 ER) were the starting pitchers during this portion of the game.
A six run seventh inning and some clutch hitting propelled the Milwaukee Brewers to a 12-5 victory.

During the final third of this game the Brewers offensive delivered a six run seventh inning and two more runs in the eighth. Milwaukee had traffic all game but during the seventh inning they found themselves just 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position. They ended up finishing the game 9-for-27 with runners in scoring position as Brice Turang, William Contreras, Christian Yelich, Jake Bauers, and Sal Frelick all had clutch hits late in this game.

23 hits is the most by any MLB team this season and 18 of them were singles.

Milwaukee finished this game with 23 total hits. 18 of them were singles and they didn’t hit a home run. Christian Yelich tallied five hits and saw his batting average rise from .297 to .325. Per Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel this was Yelich’s first five hit game since August 17, 2019 in which it last took him 14 innings to accomplish this in a game against the Washington Nationals.
