The Milwaukee Brewers are the 2024 National League Division champions. They learned of this news prior to beginning their game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night as their division rival Chicago Cubs fell to the Oakland Athletics. As the final outs from the Cubs game was happening manager Pat Murphy and Bob Uecker were able to share the moment together.

During a pre game press conference Pat Murphy talked about how he watched the final outs of the Cubs and Athletics game with Bob Uecker. Murphy described the experience as “awesome”. He also reflected on how nobody picked the Brewers to be division champs entering the season.

How did the 2024 Milwaukee Brewers defy the odds and become division champions?
After losing former manager Craig Counsell in the off-season, trading ace Corbin Burnes, and losing players like Wade Miley, Christian Yelich, and Robert Gasser for the season the Brewers defied the odds by being relentless, undaunted, and by focusing on “winning tonight”. Their team doesn’t have many big names but they find ways to get on base, they run and use their speed to their advantage, play excellent defense, and get the most out of pitchers that were wrote off by other ball clubs previously.
All of the 2024 Milwaukee Brewers attributes led to them becoming division champs at the earliest point in the season in team history.
2024 marks the Brewers third division title in four years and their fourth in their last seven seasons. Throughout all the championships 2024 is the soonest they have clinched in team history. They also are the first team across Major League Baseball to secure their division this year.
