There’s no shortage of blame to go around in Green Bay right now. With the Green Bay Packers now having dropped two straight games, no one is safe from critique on both a local and national media level. Defensive leader Micah Parsons is finding himself being put under the microscope by one Colin Cowherd. Ever outspoken, Parsons took it upon himself to respond to Cowherd’s words on social media.

Colin Cowherd Targets Micah Parsons – “He’s Not Good Against the Run”

Dating back to his days in Dallas, Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons has shown he is not one to back down from being challenged. As the Packers have deteriorated from the NFC’s number one seed to now two-straight losses, Parsons is one of many Packers being picked on as part of the team’s many problems.

Colin Cowherd in particular has gone after Parsons. Host of the Fox Sports show The Herd, Cowherd mused on the Packers’ recent letdowns and pointed at #0 as one of the issues.

Cowherd began by propping himself up as the one analyst who did not fall head-over-heels into the Packers hype after they acquired Parsons via trade. While many were calling the deal “a fleece,” Cowherd reminded viewers that he was not as high on the move as most.

“I’ve seen Micah get engulfed by good left tackles. What are his playoff numbers? There’s a way to go at Micah.”

Cowherd was as blunt to say Parsons is “not good” against the run and elaborated on why the Packers run defense lost them the game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Although Philadelphia only managed 10 points, Cowherd felt Parsons was culpable in the loss.

Micah Parsons Claps Back At Colin Cowherd

Parsons had a few choice words after the harsh critique from Cowherd.

😂😂😂😂 We just held Saquon Barkley to 60 rushing yards, and our only losses have been holding teams to 13 points! Man, sometimes can y’all? Please stfu and enjoy great defense! Why do you think teams come into the games that were going to run the ball on 3rd and long? What… https://t.co/Npp3TNxjJ4

    — Micah Parsons (@MicahhParsons11) November 11, 2025

Parsons is right that the Packers held Barkley to just 60 yards on 22 carries (equating to 2.7 yards per attempt), Although Cowherd said that Parsons was not as helpful late in games when his team was losing, meaning the opponent would be relying on their run game to churn the clock, Barkley managed under 20 yards running after Philadelphia expanded the lead in the 4th quarter.

To Parsons’ point about opponents running more frequently on 3rd-and-long situations, the data is there to back it up. Fair to say that many teams are choosing to keep it on the ground rather than face a certain player in a pass-rushing situation.

Went to look b/c I was curious: Offenses facing the Packers have a run rate over expectation of +5.8% on 3rd and 7+, which is the fourth-highest in football. Good point Micah! https://t.co/oDwgCzApni

Colin Cowherd and Micah Parsons Continue to Exchange Words

Cowherd then responded to Parsons and pointed out that Barkley has been averaging just over 64 yards per game, meaning that Green Bay had an “average” performance against him. Highlighting how Dallas’ defense has been just as poor as last year, Cowherd felt he had made his point when showcasing how Parsons does not impact the game as much as his more “versatile” peers. While Myles Garrett, Maxx Crosby, and TJ Watt are all considered elite pass rushers, just like Parsons, they are all also very strong against the run,

If you ask Cowherd, Parsons is just not the same caliber of player, which is why he was traded despite being in his prime.

“Cleveland’s not moving off Myles Garrett. Raiders aren’t moving off Max Crosby. Steelers aren’t moving off T.J. Watt. Why? Because those are versatile edge rushers. Micah’s not.”@colincowherd reacts to Micah Parsons’ response to his take pic.twitter.com/YhRarED1as

    — Herd w/Colin Cowherd (@TheHerd) November 12, 2025

Parsons clearly does not think much of Cowherd or his criticisms.

Lol should I do it? https://t.co/Vi1s6aCB8w

    — Micah Parsons (@MicahhParsons11) November 12, 2025

While Cowherd had his own stats, there’s also data that counters his stance. Green Bay ranks 6th-best in the NFL in both rush yards allowed per game and yards allowed per attempt. Although Cowherd is right that Parsons is far from a top-ranked edge rusher individually, it’s hard to say that Green Bay’s run defense is one of their main issues right now.
