The relationship between the Miami Heat and their star player Jimmy Butler seemingly continues to show more cracks and fissures.
On Wednesday, the Heat announced that they have once again slapped Butler with a suspension after reportedly missing the team’s flight for Thursday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum.
Miami HEAT Statement on Jimmy Butler:
We have suspended Jimmy Butler for two games for continued pattern of disregard of team rules, insubordinate conduct and conduct detrimental to the team, including missing today’s team flight to Milwaukee.
The Heat decided to fly early to Milwaukee on Wednesday, though, it has been reported that Butler also had a plan to catch up with his team via a different flight.
As a result of the suspension, Butler will not be with the Heat when they play the Bucks this Thursday and the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center on Saturday. The soonest Butler can rejoin the Heat will be next Tuesday when Miami comes back home to hose the Orlando Magic – and that’s if the Heat don’t trade him somewhere else to end what appears to be a growing distraction for the team.
Miami Heat suspend Butler again
Butler’s two-game suspension is the second such disciplinary punishment handed to him by Miami this month, as the Heat also suspended him for seven games for the same “conduct detrimental to the team” reason.
On the season, the 35-year-old Butler is averaging 17.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists through 25 games.
