Andrew McCutchen and Luis Urias both hit solo home runs and Josh Hader recorded his 15th save in his 15th appearance of the season. Most importantly, the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Washington Nationals 5-1 to improve to 26-14 on the season.
Brandon Woodruff Earns Win Number Five
Brandon Woodruff earned the win with one of his best pitching performances of the year. The two-time All-Star is now 5-2 on the season, already over halfway to his win total from last season (nine). The right-handed flamethrower has had a rough start to the season, though the win column doesn’t show it. However, his six innings of one-run ball on Saturday lowered his ERA to 4.76. He has now put together two consecutive starts of one earned run allowed.
McCutchen and Urias Provide the Power
Andrew McCutchen missed some time with COVID, but has picked up right where he left off. The former NL MVP hit his second first-pitch lead off home run of the season on Saturday. It was his third home run of the year.

Luis Urias, who missed the start of the season with a quad injury, has been invaluable to the team since his return. In 16 games, he is hitting .293/.408/.466 with three home runs and seven RBI.

Luis Urias: Defensive Wizard
Willy Adames is now on the IL with an ankle injury. The Brewers originally acquired Adames last season due to the defensive struggles of Luis Urias at short stop. With Adames out, Urias has moved back to short stop and has shown he has improved tremendously.

Keston Hiura Provides Insurance
When Willy Adames was placed on IL, Keston Hiura was recalled to take his spot on the Big League roster. Hiura went 2-3 on Saturday night with a big two-RBI single to extend the Brewers’ lead.
