Matt LaFleur Praises Mason Crosby
The Packers’ head coach made sure to knock on his wooden podium before talking about Crosby. “He’s been automatic,” LaFleur said after the game on Sunday. He has hit 20/23 field goals this season for a percentage of 87.5. This is a huge jump from the 73.5% for last season. For years Crosby has hit huge kicks for the Packers including many game-winners. While many teams have struggled to find a kicker, the Packers have been able to rely on Crosby for a decade and a half.
A Great Final Season
This is most likely Crosby’s final season with the team. His leg power isn’t what it used to be as many of his misses are from long-range. It is especially evident on kick-offs where he cannot reach the endzone most of the time. Despite this, he is still having a great season and is worthy of Matt LaFleur’s praises. He has broken Brett Favre‘s record for most consecutive games and will go down as a Packers legend. The Packers will have a tough time replacing him next year.
Matt LaFleur is hoping that Crosby will get more opportunities to be automatic this season. The Packers are looking to sneak into the playoffs but need a little bit more help in order to do so. Two home games against divisional opponents will be tough but the team is playing better as of late. The Packers look to get revenge on the Vikings this week at Lambeau Field.
