Matt LaFleur took the podium after OTAs today and was apparently in a good mood. Everything around the organization seems a little more relaxed since Aaron Rodgers left. At the end of practice, the two-minute drill was ended with a spike by Jordan Love that would have ultimately set up a field goal. LaFleur was asked about this and joked about his past NFC Championship game decisions.
Matt LaFleur Jokes About NFC Championship Game Decisions
Why did he end the two-minute drill with a spike? “Because we only kick field goals at the end of games,” was LaFleur’s response. This is of course a callback to the decision at the end of the NFC Championship game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to kick a field goal rather than go for the touchdown. It is good to see that LaFleur can joke about the decision. It also is positive that he leaves the practice feeling good enough to joke. This is a big year for LaFleur. Many have questioned his coaching now that Rodgers is gone.

We Truly Get To See The LaFleur Offense
Last year, many reports came out that Rodgers would audible out of LaFleur’s play calls. He also didn’t like all of the motion and pre-snap movement which put him at odds with his head coach. Now, LaFleur will get a chance to show what he can do. This team is young and seems to be on board with gelling as a team. I doubt Love will feel comfortable enough to change play calls directly from his head coach so we will be to see exactly what kind of coach LaFleur is. He seems confident in his ability and so do the players.
This is going to be a fun year to be a Packers fan. The record may not be good but this team is going to have some fun moments. Watching players develop as well as getting to watch superstars like Jaire Alexander will make for a fun 2023 season.
