The Green Bay Packers have had plenty of buzz this week at the NFL Annual League Meeting. General manager Brian Gutekunst was peppered with questions Monday about his trade talks with the New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers this offseason. Head coach Matt LaFleur spoke to reporters on Tuesday morning and offered a telling comment on his starting quarterback for the 2023 season, Jordan Love.
Matt LaFleur Talks Jordan Love at NFL Annual League Meeting
With Rodgers heading to New York this offseason, Love, a 2020 first-round draft pick, will be the Packers’ full-time starter in 2023. Love has started in one regular season game for the Packers in his career. That contest, which was somewhat unmemorable to Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, came in 2021 when the Packers lost to the Chiefs 13-7.
LaFleur must expect more bumps in Love’s progress this season. According to Matt Schneidman with The Athletic, LaFleur didn’t give Love the biggest boost of confidence this at the NFL Annual League Meeting.
“We all have to kind of temper our expectations for him,” LaFleur said of Love.

Packers fans will have to adjust to not seeing a four-time MVP throwing passes this season. Love will have work to transition into being the franchise quarterback. That will take time, as it did with Rodgers. But regardless of LaFleur’s comments, Packers fans will have lofty expectations for Love. Fair or not in 2023.
