The Green Bay Packers won a thriller on Sunday vs the Miami Dolphins. The Packers edged out the Dolphins 26-20 to keep their playoff hopes alive and improve to 7-8 on the season. The win didn’t come without its costs though. Multiple players suffered injuries and star rookie wide receiver Christian Watson was one of them. Today Matt LaFleur gave an update regarding his injury status.
Christian Watson Avoids Major Injury In Win Vs Dolphins
Per Ryan Wood after the game on Sunday:
Caught up with Christian Watson as he was leaving the locker room. He told me his hip was OK. “I’ll be all right,” he said. Of course, tomorrow is a new day. Didn’t seem to be much concerned with it long term, though.
Sounds Christian Watson, Yosh Nijman and Keisean Nixon all avoided significant injuries. Coach Matt LaFleur said they will be “day to day” this week.
Before he left the game, Watson had six receptions for 49 yards, averaging 8.2 yards per catch. Watson has emerged as the No. 1 receiving option this year on an offense that desperately needed one. This season, he has 29 receptions for 447 yards with seven receiving touchdowns. Eight of his nine touchdowns from scrimmage have come since Week 10, leading the NFL in that span. His second rushing touchdown of the season was a 46-yarder on a wide receiver reverse that sealed a 28-19 win at the Chicago Bears in Week 13. Having Christian Watson next week for the Packers’ matchup with the Minnesota Vikings would be huge for their offense.
