It looks as if the Mason Crosby era is done in Green Bay. After a tweet by Crosby’s wife this weekend, it seems that the Packers are moving forward with Anders Carlson, the rookie they took in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, Crosby could be kicking elsewhere this season. Dallas Cowboys special teams coach John Fassel named dropped the former Packers kicker this weekend.
Mason Crosby Drawing Interest From The Dallas Cowboys?
The Cowboys are considering “anybody on earth” for the kicker position. Here is the full quote from Fassel.
“It’s probably the easier way (to go) because you know more what you’re going to get,” Fassel said. “If you’re going to bring them in, you’ve got to be excited about what it is. There’s veterans on the street right now — let’s face it, there’s Mason (Crosby), there’s Robbie (Gould), there’s (Ryan) Succop. There’s a lot of guys that have performed at a good level in the NFL, and you weigh that against everything else.
Crosby gets name-dropped along with Robbie Gould and Ryan Succop but I don’t think it is an accident that Crosby’s name was thrown into the quote. The team has very little depth at kicker right now and Crosby showed last year that he still has something left in the tank.

Would He Actually Sign With A Rival Team?
Crosby has been silent about his intentions for the 2023 season. Many have joked about him joining the New York Jets alongside Aaron Rodgers but that doesn’t seem likely. He also has given no indication that he wants to play. Crosby has had a great career with the Packers and could want to simply retire. However, Jerry Jones and the Cowboys are so desperate for a championship that they would probably throw a ton of money at anyone in order to give them a better chance.
It would be weird to see Mason Crosby in a Dallas Cowboys uniform. However, regardless of what happens with Crosby, he will always be remembered as a Green Bay Packer.
