Postgame Breakdown
It was truly a tale of two halves for Marquette Forward, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, as the 6-foot-8 Junior scored 25 of his game-high 29 points in the second-half to help propel the Golden Eagles to overcome a 48-41 halftime deficit against the Red Storm on Tuesday night in Queens. St. John’s were led by their star duo of Joel Soriano and Dylan Addae-Wusu, who combined for 43 points for the Red Storm but Prosper and the Golden Eagles were simply too much for the Storm in the second-half.
Beginning the second-half on a 16-2 run, the Golden Eagles completely swung the momentum of the game, turning a seven-point deficit into a quick seven-point lead, a lead in which Shaka Smart’s squad never looked back on.
What’s Next?
Next up for Marquette is two-game home-stand for the Golden Eagles, as the team is set to host a pair of Big East rivals, first, a clash with Villanova on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 7), before a massive showdown with the fourth-ranked team in the nation, the UConn Huskies, next Wednesday evening (Jan. 11) at the Fiserv Forum.
