Marquette is the seven seed in ESPN college basketball analyst Joe Lunardi’s latest mock bracket updated Tuesday. Auburn, Purdue, Duke and Providence are other teams in the same region as the Golden Eagles.
The Big East is projected to have seven teams in the tournament as of now. Villanova (No. 3 seed), Providence (No. 4 seed), Connecticut (No. 5 seed), Marquette (No. 7 seed), Xavier (No. 7 seed), Seton Hall (No. 8 seed) and Creighton (No. 11 seed).
Marquette has a chance to up its bracket stock with three games remaining in the regular season, facing off against Butler at home, then the Golden Eagles will be traveling to Chicago to play Depaul, lastly ending their season back at home versus St. John’s.
After the regular season comes to an end, the Big East Tournament begins. Last year, Marquette’s tournament run was brief as they were knocked out in their first matchup versus eight seed Georgetown.
Marquette’s next game will be played Feb. 26 at home versus Butler and will start at 12 p.m. on FOX.
