Ex Marquette Golden Eagles star Kam Jones can score. That is a given. He was Eagles’ top scorer last season. He can pass, something he improved massively in his last college eligibility year.

He is now entering a bigger stage with bigger challenges. Can he make a name for himself? The player he is being compared to did.
Yahoo! Sports and NBA senior analyst Kevin O’Connor wrote that Jones has the making of a new Donte Divincenzo who is currently with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He used to play for the Milwaukee Bucks and won the 2021 title with the team.

He has been with four teams now since that title run but he managed to carve out his niche in each team to make himself a reliable role player or sixth man.
Kam Jones’ streaky shooting is his best asset
Divincenzo is good three-point shooter but he is more notable for his perimeter defense. That is not what Connor is pointing to when he compared Jones to the Wolves guard.
“Jones offers crafty combo guard skills with advanced shot creation and a blossoming playmaking feel,” the analyst wrote on his June 13 NBA draft scouting report article.
“But his so-so athleticism and streaky shooting paint him as just a cog rather than the rare star upperclassmen set to enter the league.”

The comparison is definitely odd as Divincenzo has never been known as a playmaker with the NBA teams he played for.
Right now, Jones might need to improve every facet of his game to make it to the NBA. Sports Illustrated project him to get picked in the second round, lower than projections from months ago.
