David Joplin’s NBA dream is off and first stop for the Marquette Golden Eagles forward is the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament.

The 6’8 forward was grouped with Sales Systems LTD who went up against the K&D Rounds Landscaping lead by Sean Pedulla of Ole Miss Rebels.
His teammates were Daniel Batch from Louisiana Tech, Ty Johnson from UC Davis, J’Wan Roberts of the recently-crowned NCAA champs Houston Cougars, Ian Schieffelin of Clemson Tigers, Wooga Poplar of Villanova, Johnell Davis of Arkansas, and Kobe Sanders of Nevada.
How did the Golden Eagles star fare?
Joplin scored nine points on 3 out of 11 shooting. He also had seven rebounds and one assist. He logged in the second most minutes behind Johnson.
Th P.I.T. is one of the two pre-NBA draft tourneys college players from American universities and college participate in.
Next to it is the pre-combine in Orlando.

Aside from Joplin, Kam Jones is another Marquette player who listed himself for the NBA 2025 draft.

Joplin had a great 2024-2025 season for the Golden Eagles and just recently, he won the MVP at the Reese’s All-Star Game where by recording an efficient 21 points, missing just one of his eight attempts.
His best asset coming into the NBA is his shooting.

NBA Scouting Live listed his advantages as the following: solid shooter, fairly solid scorer off the dribble, a good playmaker for his size, and above average athlete.
His cons, on the other hand, are inconsistency in long-range shooting and commitment to defense. His rebounding was also on the list.
