The Marquette Golden Eagles have already announced their non-conference schedule and BIG East opener for the 2024-2025 college basketball season. On Thursday afternoon, the entire BIG East Conference schedule was released.
When the schedule gets released, it is always interesting to see the big games on the calendar. The Marquette Golden should be one of the better teams in the conference this season.
Marquette Golden Eagles Have a 10-Day Layoff In December With Games
The Marquette Golden Eagles will open conference play at home against the Butler Bulldogs on December 18. They will then play a few days later against the Xavier Musketeers on the road on December 21, but Marquette will then not play again until December 31, also on the road against the Providence Friars.
It will be a long layoff of games for Marquette. They could very well be 3-0 in conference play before the start of the 2025 calendar year.
UCONN Huskies Games
Outside of facing teams like the St. John’s Red Storm, the Seton Hall Pirates, and the Creighton Blue Jays, the most important game on the calendar for the Marquette Golden Eagles will be the UCONN Huskies. Marquette will host UCONN on February 1 and then will be on the road against them on March 4.
The UCONN Huskies have won back-to-back titles in college basketball. As for the Marquette Golden Eagles, they have not been to a Final Four appearance in over 20 years.
The Huskies will be the favorites to win the conference again this season. UCONN and Marquette could very well meet in the BIG East title game again this year. Not only do the Golden Eagles face the Huskies twice lately in the season, but they will also face the St. John’s Red Storm last in the season. They will be at St. John’s on February 4 and host them on March 8.
